1. Chance And Time by James Varda – 15 February 2024

Praise for Chance And Time has been plentiful, including the following excerpts:

“His bravery to seek peace and beauty, acts as an antidote of reassurance in a group of songs that bestow us tools to cope with adversity. In this artist’s bigger picture all will be ok, the album’s real strength lies in his desire to explores ways to soften the aftermath of what’s to come…”
Rocking Magpie, March 2024

“The soundstage is superb, Varda’s gentle but compelling voice prominently portrayed while plucked strings of acoustic guitars reverberate before you. Try ‘The Doctor Spoke’ or ‘One Thing After Another’ to get a sense of the honesty and humanity on show here: expect to be moved.”
Clash Magazine, April 2024

“James Varda released Chance And Time in early 2015, only a matter of months before his death from a rare form of cancer, and the album was conceived, recorded, and completed in the full knowledge of its approach. The essential purpose was to grasp and chronicle the concluding phases of a well-lived life in the process of being cut short. Though made under such a looming shadow it remains focused on life and living well with an understanding that this experience is all part of the pattern and the contract, albeit cruelly accelerated.”
Bucketfull of Brains, March 2024

2. Friendship Is Deep by Golden Shoulders – 23 August 2024

Friendship Is Deep has received plenty of praise from reviewers and customers around the world, including:

“I am struck by the quality of songs that fit effortlessly together with standout guitar licks from Ethren Haas backed up by dynamic drumming courtesy of Todd Roper and Neal Morgan. (In fact, the long credit of folk who have been involved with Golden Shoulders over the years is a testimony to the musicians and friendships held dear by this band.)”
Rocking Magpie, August 2024

“Twenty years on from a quietly appreciated CD outing, this corker finally makes it to vinyl and it has a baby blue hue… If you’ve never had the pleasure and, as David Hutcheon’s glorious sleevenote points out, most of you won’t have, this is a supremely melodic burst of American indie with musical DNA that runs all the way back to the Sixties.  Opening pair ‘I Will Light You On Fire’ and ‘Don’t Ever Do That Again’ should have you sold in just over six minutes.”
Clash Magazine, September 2024

3. Drink Ring Jesus by Stephen Simmons – 17 January 2025

Officially out in January, 2025, early reviews show how much of an effect this album is having 19 years on from its recording.

“What a beautifully crafted record and one recorded nearly twenty years ago, written in the wake of 9/11 five years previously; but still hanging over the USA like fog, everything here is still painfully relevent today in 2024.”
Rocking Magpie, December 2024

“This sparse collection of songs is instantly compelling; the title track opens proceedings and profiles a warm, weary, aching voice that takes centre stage alongside a plucked acoustic and only minimal additional aspects for the record’s duration. ‘You Give Us’ and ‘Dante’s Blues No.7’ are particular highlights, melodic details, lyrical imagery and pinpoint phrasing elevating them just above the other fine moments on this LP.”
Clash Magazine, January 2025

“Drink Ring Jesus is a stark yet warming slice of a man’s soul, masterfully delivered. This vinyl reissue is quite the delight but is strictly limited.”
Blabber & Smoke, March 2025

4. The Tracksuit Trilogy by The Experimental Pop Band – 25 July 2025

The 25th anniversary version of the album is pressed on 140g black bio vinyl and feature two additional tracks, of which at least one is previously unreleased. The album has fresh artwork created by artist Renee Vaughan Sutherland, new liner notes by author Wyndham Wallace, plus song notes from singer and principal songwriter, Davey Woodward.

Each sleeve has been hand-finished, and includes experimental elements – in keeping with the band’s name and approach – such as an exclusive signed hand printed poster (for pre-orders only – standard orders feature an unsigned poster) and download cards held inside a small, bespoke fabric bag adorned by a print inspired by the album’s title.

The digital version features an additional eight tracks of previously unreleased material, finally bringing 23 songs from the sessions for this cult Bristol indie band’s third album to the public.

You can order the vinyl edition from the Unspun Heroes Bandcamp or Ampwall.

“This Art Pop album is a whirlpool of deluxe songs, churning up genres so fast that the listener relaxes into a soundtrack that constantly samples the unexpected.”
The Rocking Magpie, July 2025

“This marks the vinyl debut for an album that should win hearts amongst fans of Denim, Gorky’s, the Velvet Underground, Luke Haines and The Kinks. Helmed by Davey Woodward, the group offer a genre-hopping, kaleidoscopic charge through a world of ambition that uses up more ideas across two sides of vinyl than many acts manage in a lifetime.

… a true labour of love and I can’t think of a single improvement to suggest.”
Clash Magazine, September 2025

5. Living And Growing by The Felt Tips – 17 October 2025

Released on 17 October, 2025, the album is available now to order on the Unspun Heroes Bandcamp page or the Ampwall Store.

“It’s a time capsule and it’s good indie pop, for all who appreciate both such attempts at hanging on to a bit of youth.”
Rosy Overdrive, October 2025

Upcoming Releases

This is Dan’s second solo album, and also his last under his own name (he continues to create and release music under a different guise). The music Dan makes on Of Tide And Trail can be best described as John Martyn playing guitar with Nick Drake singing.

The date for release is not yet confirmed, but will likely be September. The final package will comprise a double album housed in a gatefold sleeve. While only a few details can be provided, there will be a special edition for all preorders and a total pressing of 250 copies.

The pressing will be a two-disc gatefold. Each disc will be a marbled vinyl, using a ‘natural’ base with turquoise and yellow. As always, I’m commissioning new liner notes. The final package will feature the song’s lyrics and, I hope, song notes from Dan himself. A digital download will be provided as part of the physical purchase, due to licensing restrictions.
